On Wednesday, August 24, 2022, Ukraine celebrates the 31st anniversary of the declaration of independence.

The Independence Day of Ukraine is celebrated in honor of the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR in 1991 of the Act of Proclamation of Independence of Ukraine – a political and legal document that certified the new status of the Ukrainian state. Since then, Independence Day has been celebrated in Ukraine every year at the end of August. Among its traditions are a military parade in the capital, festivals, concerts. This year’s holiday coincides with a tragic date: six months ago, on February 24, the Russian Federation launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. On the eve of the holiday, Russia increased its shelling of Ukrainian territory. On the night of August 24, Kharkiv, Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia were attacked by the Russian army. In order not to expose Ukrainians to danger, mass festive events will not be held in Ukraine.

At the same time, on August 24, an exhibition of destroyed Russian equipment will be held at Khreschatyk. You can visit the exhibition now. Only such a parade of Russian military equipment is possible on Ukrainian Khreschatyk!
